The Slaying of the Monster Bird By Michael Krueger
In the Navajo creation stories the Navajo are being decimated by monsters, created from past transgressions of the Navajo, and they are sent the twin Monster Slayers by the sun. One of them ascends the monster's nest and kills it with a lightening spear and the monster falls to the Earth becoming Shiprock pinacle.
